Day 36 of Embracing the Wonders of Life !

During a recent trip to Seattle, I stumbled upon a remarkable sculpture that left me pleasantly surprised and deeply moved. As I wandered through the Olympic Sculpture Park, I was greeted by the towering presence of Jaume Plensa’s “Echo.” This 46-foot tall statue of a young girl with her eyes closed immediately reminded me of another of Plensa’s works, “ANNA,” which I had seen in Sweden. Both sculptures share a serene and introspective quality that resonates deeply with viewers.

I remember when standing in front of “ANNA,” how I felt an overwhelming sense of calm wash over me. The statue’s smooth, white surface and the girl’s peaceful expression seemed to invite me into a moment of quiet reflection. It was as if the sculpture was encouraging me to pause, breathe, and look inward. The amazing surrounding of the Swedish Archipelago contributes to its beauty. This experience was profoundly impactful, much like my encounter with “ECHO” in Seattle. Both statues evoke a sense of inner peace and contemplation, making them powerful symbols of introspection.

As I stood there, lost in thought, I realized how rare it is to find moments of true stillness in our busy lives. “Echo” serves as a gentle reminder to take time for self-reflection and to seek inner peace amidst the chaos. The sculpture’s presence in the bustling city of Seattle felt like a sanctuary, offering a space for visitors to connect with their inner selves.

For anyone visiting Seattle, Sweden or any city with public art, I encourage you to take a moment to truly engage with the artworks you encounter. Allow yourself to be present and open to the emotions they evoke. You might be surprised by the profound impact a single piece of art can have on your state of mind. Remember, sometimes the most meaningful journeys are the ones we take within ourselves.
