Day 38 of Embracing the Wonders of Life !
Walking past a school this morning, I couldn’t help but smile at the sight of parents bringing their kids in, sitting down with them to read a few pages while the day began. It took me back to when my own kids were little. Back then, the small moments—like a simple story or a quick hug before heading off to school—were the highlights of my day. Life was full of those tiny but powerful joys, happening every single day.
As time passed, my kids grew older and because of change my private situation, those moments became less frequent. They no longer needed me to walk them into school or read with them in the mornings. They are grown up now, but luckily we have found new ways to connect—over a dinner, jamming together on the guitar, or heading out to a concert or football game.
Though the routine shifted, the joy never diminished. If anything, those moments felt even more precious because they happened less often. Each dinner, each gathering, became a special event to cherish.
The truth is, the frequency of those joyful moments changes as life moves forward. When your children are young, the opportunities for connection are everywhere. But as they grow, and you go through different stages of life, those moments are fewer and farther between. Yet, the joy remains the same—if not more profound.
The key is awareness. We need to recognize and appreciate these fleeting moments, no matter how often they occur. The frequency may change, but the joy is still there, waiting to be felt. So, cherish every moment, whether it happens every day or just once in a while, because these are the memories that will last a lifetime.
